Terms and Conditions of Participation
Ver. 1.2
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
.
1. General Provisions
The Spring International Online Salon of Contemporary Visual Art (hereinafter: SVASSO) is an international online exhibition platform dedicated to contemporary visual art, open to artists of diverse poetics and techniques.
The aim of SVASSO is to present a broad range of contemporary artistic production and to connect artists from different countries through an international digital exhibition platform.
The Salon does not impose thematic restrictions. Artists are free to determine the theme and content of their works, provided that the works comply with the Salon’s categories and technical requirements.
Submission includes digital reproductions of original works intended exclusively for online presentation; physical works are not to be submitted.
The author is required to provide their full legal name, as registered on their bank or PayPal account. This information is used solely for administrative purposes and, where applicable, for the payment of monetary awards.
If the author uses an artistic name or pseudonym, it may be entered in the designated field of the application form. In that case, the artistic name will be used for public presentation — in the exhibition, catalogue, and promotional materials — while the legal name remains strictly limited to administrative use.
The organizer assumes no responsibility for any issues related to prize payments arising from inaccurate or inconsistent legal information provided by the author.
2. Categories
The Salon includes three categories:
- Contemporary Painting
- Spatial Art (2D Representation)
- Digital, Experimental & Emerging Media
Category Descriptions
Contemporary Painting
Works based on manual and material processes. This category includes painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, assemblage, and other forms derived from painterly thinking and direct physical engagement with materials.
Spatial Art (2D Representation)
Three-dimensional works presented through photographic documentation. This category includes sculpture, relief, installation, and small spatial forms — ceramics, terracotta, and related materials. The submitted image should faithfully convey the spatial and material qualities of the original work.
Digital, Experimental & Emerging Media
Works created through digital, computational and experimental processes, including digital photography as a lens-based medium, generative and algorithmic creation, fractal art, hybrid visual practices, interactive media and other emerging forms of contemporary visual expression.
The emphasis is on image-making driven by concept and idea, rather than purely aesthetic or decorative output.
One author may participate in all three categories, with a maximum of three works per category. The same work may be submitted to only one category.
Works based primarily on generative, algorithmic or technology-assisted creation should be submitted to the category Digital, Experimental & Emerging Media.
Works submitted to other categories must primarily reflect the author’s own creative vision and artistic decision-making.
The author is responsible for selecting the appropriate category. The Jury reserves the right to reassign a work to a more suitable category or to reject it if it does not correspond to the selected category, without the obligation to provide additional explanation. The Jury’s decision regarding categorisation is final. In the event of reassignment, the entry fee remains valid and unchanged.
Artwork Information
For each submitted work, the following information must be provided in a single line:
Title, year of creation, technique, dimensions (height × width × depth in cm)
(e.g. Untitled, 2024, oil on canvas, 50 × 70 cm)
Incomplete or unclear information may affect the selection process and inclusion in the exhibition catalogue.
3. Entry Fee
Submission to the Salon is free of charge.
The entry fee is payable only by authors whose works are selected by the Jury, depending on the number of categories:
- One category (up to 3 works) — €20
- Two categories (up to 6 works) — €35
- Three categories (up to 9 works) — €45
The fee is paid after notification of selection, via available electronic payment methods specified in the application form.
The fee confirms participation in the selected categories.
Payment deadline: 5 days from the date of notification.
If the fee is not paid within the deadline, the place will be offered to the next author on the Jury’s ranking list.
Participants residing in Serbia
Participants residing in the Republic of Serbia may pay the participation fee in Serbian dinars (RSD).
Detailed payment instructions are available in the Serbian version of the Rules.
The entry fee is non-refundable, except in the case of cancellation of the Salon.
A portion of the collected fees is allocated to the prize fund of each category, as defined in the section “Prize Fund”.
4. Jury
Submitted works are evaluated by a three-member professional Jury composed of established artists from various fields of visual art, with recognized international experience.
Jury biographies are available on the official Salon website.
5. Evaluation System
Each Jury member independently evaluates the submitted works, assigning a score from 4 to 10 points.
The total score is the sum of the three individual scores and ranges from 12 to 30 points.
6. Selection of Works
Works receiving 18 or more points enter the official exhibition selection.
Works with 16–17 points enter final joint consideration by the Jury.
The score serves as the basis for selection, while the Jury retains the right to confirm the final selection based on professional judgment.
7. Awards and Recognitions
Within each category, the following may be awarded:
- First Prize (monetary)
- Second Prize (monetary)
- Third Prize (monetary)
- Commendations (PDF diplomas)
The Jury may also grant special recognitions, including:
– for innovation in artistic concept, process, or visual language

- 50 or more works: three prizes and up to five commendations
- 20–50 works: two prizes and up to three commendations
- Fewer than 20 works: the Jury may award up to one prize
Only works with at least 24 points are eligible for awards.

The remaining funds are used for organization, technical execution, promotion, administrative costs, and development of future editions.
Final prize amounts depend on the number of participants and will be announced after the submission deadline.
