CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

1. General Provisions

The Spring International Online Salon of Contemporary Visual Art (hereinafter: SVASSO) is an international online exhibition platform dedicated to contemporary visual art, open to artists of diverse poetics and techniques.

The aim of SVASSO is to present a wide spectrum of contemporary artistic production and to connect artists from different countries through an international digital exhibition platform.

The Salon imposes no thematic restrictions. Authors are free to determine the subject matter and content of their works, provided they comply with the categories and technical requirements of the Salon.

An entry consists of digital reproductions of original works intended for online presentation; physical artworks are not submitted.

The author is required to provide their full legal name (as registered on their bank or PayPal account), which shall be used exclusively for administrative purposes and, where applicable, for the disbursement of monetary awards.

If the author uses an artistic name or pseudonym, it may be entered in the designated field of the Entry Form. In such cases, the artistic name shall be used for public presentation (exhibition, catalogue, promotional materials), while the legal name shall remain strictly for administrative use.

The organiser bears no responsibility for any issues related to the payment of awards arising from incorrect or inconsistent legal information provided by the author.

2. Categories

The Salon comprises three categories:

– Contemporary Painting

– Spatial Art (2D Representation)

– Digital, AI Art & New Media

.

Category Descriptions

  •       Contemporary Painting

Works based on manual and material processes. This category includes painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, assemblage, and other forms derived from painterly thinking and direct physical engagement with materials.

  •       Spatial Art (2D Representation)

Three-dimensional works presented through photographic documentation. This category includes sculpture, relief, installation, and small-scale spatial forms (ceramics, terracotta, and related materials). The submitted image should faithfully convey the spatial and material qualities of the original work.

  •       Digital, AI Art & New Media

Works created through digital processes, including AI-generated art, digital photography (lens-based media), fractal and algorithmic art, and experimental visual practices.
Focus on concept-driven and idea-based image-making rather than purely aesthetic or decorative work.

An author may participate in up to three categories, with a maximum of three works per category. The same work may be submitted to one category only.

Works created with the assistance of artificial intelligence may be submitted exclusively to the category Digital, AI Art & New Media, where the visual outcome has been generated predominantly by AI tools.

Works submitted to other categories must represent primarily author-driven creation, without the dominant or decisive involvement of generative AI tools.

The author is responsible for selecting the appropriate category. The Jury reserves the right to reassign a work to a more suitable category or to reject it if it does not correspond to the selected category, without the obligation to provide additional explanation. The Jury’s decision regarding categorisation is final. In the event of reassignment, the entry fee remains valid and unchanged, irrespective of the category adjustment.

3. NFT Works

Works published or distributed as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) may participate under the same conditions as other digital works and should be submitted to the category that best corresponds to their visual and conceptual nature.

Authors are required to submit a standard digital image (JPEG or PNG), in accordance with the technical requirements of the Salon, regardless of the work’s blockchain format.

The NFT status of a work does not influence the selection or evaluation process.

4. Entry Fee

Participation in the Salon requires payment of an entry fee, depending on the number of submitted categories:

  • One category (up to 3 works) — €20

  • Two categories (up to 6 works) — €35

  • Three categories (up to 9 works) — €45

The entry fee is payable during the online submission process via the available electronic payment methods (see Entry Form).

Payment of the entry fee confirms the validity of the submission.

The entry fee is non-refundable.

A portion of the collected fees is allocated to the prize fund of each category, in accordance with the provisions set out in the section “Prize Fund”.

5. Jury

Submitted works are evaluated by a three-member professional Jury composed of established artists from various fields of visual art, with recognised experience on the international art scene.

Biographies of the Jury members are available on the official Salon website.

6. Evaluation System

Each member of the Jury evaluates the submitted works independently, assigning a numerical score ranging from 4 to 10 points.

The total score is the sum of the three individual evaluations and ranges from 12 to 30 points.

7. Selection

Works that receive 18 or more points are included in the official exhibition selection.

Works scoring 16–17 points enter a final joint review by the Jury.

The score serves as the basis for selection, while the Jury retains the right to confirm the final selection on the basis of professional judgment.

8. Awards and Recognitions

Within each category, the following awards may be granted:

  • First Prize (monetary)

  • Second Prize (monetary)

  • Third Prize (monetary)

  • Honorable Mentions (PDF diplomas)

The Jury may also grant a special recognition for innovative approaches in digital or NFT art.

The number of awards depends on the number of selected works:

  • 50 or more works: three awards and up to five honorable mentions

  • 20–50 works: two awards and up to three honorable mentions

  • fewer than 20 works: the Jury decides whether to grant up to one award and an appropriate number of honorable mentions

Only works receiving at least 22 points are eligible for awards.

The final decision on awards and their ranking is made by the Jury based on a collective professional assessment.

9. Prize Fund

At least 20% of the funds collected through entry fees within each category constitutes that category’s prize fund.

The remaining funds are allocated to the organisation, technical realisation, promotion, and administrative costs of the Salon, as well as to the development of future editions.

The final amount of monetary awards depends on the number of participants and will be announced after the submission period has concluded.

10. Publication of Results

The organiser publishes the official list of selected works and awarded authors.

The total score is not publicly disclosed.

Upon individual request, an author may receive information about the total number of points awarded to their work, within a reasonable time frame and via the organiser’s contact address.

Individual scores assigned by Jury members are not disclosed.

11. Continuity and Professional Network

Authors participating in the Salon become part of an international artistic network within the FASt platform and will be duly informed of future projects and exhibitions organised within this framework.

Participation in the Salon does not imply any automatic preference in future selections.
